Brian joined Hine & Ogulluk LLP after a decade of litigating criminal and civil cases, first as Judge Advocate in the U.S. Marine Corps (where he tried misdemeanor and felony cases to trial), and then practicing civil litigation at top Manhattan law firms.  He has extensive experience in litigating construction and insurance coverage disputes, in particular.  His commitment to providing clients with efficient and dedicated service with integrity and transparency earned him recognition in New York Metro Rising Stars, Super Lawyers.

As Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps, Brian prosecuted cases domestically and abroad, litigating numerous federal felonies and misdemeanors from arraignment through trial and sentencing.  In that role, he worked closely with investigators and prosecutors at the FBI, U.S. Attorney’s Office, U.S. Marshals Service and Naval Criminal Investigative Service.  He also deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom acting as an international law advisor for the commanding general of Marine Corps infantry forces in Helmand Province where he collaborated with intelligence officers, implemented initiatives under the direction of the White House and Pentagon, ensured compliance with the law of war and Geneva Conventions, and trained U.S. and NATO forces.

After leaving active duty, Brian practiced civil litigation, including at top Manhattan law firms, where he focused his practice in the areas of construction law, corporate defense, professional malpractice, and insurance defense litigation in state and federal courts and at arbitration and mediation.  Brian has represented property owners and developers, architects, engineers, contractors, construction managers, accountants, and businesses across various industries.  He has significant experience handling litigation claims related to complex business transactions and shareholder disputes; intellectual property disputes; lien law matters; insurance coverage; construction litigation; professional malpractice of design professionals and accountants; labor law claims; and general liability disputes.  Additionally, his practice has included contract drafting and negotiation as well as working with clients to develop risk management strategies and advising on insurance issues.
